la chapelle du Calvaire. Ce havre de paix, qui est l'un des principaux
lieux de pèlerinage de la Guadeloupe, prend toute son
importance pendant les fêtes de Pâques; |
On the
tourist level, the commune presents several site particularly
interesting to discover. - The path of cross leading to the vault of the Martyrdom. This haven of peace, which is one of the principal places of pilgrimage of the Guadeloupe, takes all its importance during the Easter; - the new church Jesus-Good Pasteur, set up on the plain of Large-Camp. The divine and inaugural ceremony was carried out on October 18, 1996 per Mr Cabo bishop of the Guadeloupe. |

| - Le Temple Hindou
situé dans la section de Palais Royal fait l'objet de
cérémonies religieuses sous l'invocation de Shiva,
Ganesh, ou Maliémin; - Le monument aux morts situé sur la grand-place des Abymes de style néocolonialiste, rend hommage à Félix Eboué, ancien gouverneur de la Guadeloupe; - L'ancienne mairie est un exemple de l'architecture coloniale. Elle fut construite en 1934 par Ali Tur, l'architecte qui édifia aussi l'église de la commune. Elle abrite le Centre Communal d'Action Sociale. |

located in the section of Royal Palate is the subject of religious
ceremonies under the invocation of Shiva, Ganesh, or Maliémin; - the war memorial located on the town square of Abymes of style neocoloniaslist, pays homage to Felix Eboué, former governor of the Guadeloupe; - the old town hall is an example of colonial architecture. It was built in 1934 by Ali Tur, the architect who built also the church of the commune. It shelters the Communal Center of Social action. |

| - Des réserves
naturelles comme le Grands-Cul de Sac Marin et les deux canaux
de Belle-Plaine et Perrin qui le prolongent vers l'intérieur
des terres apportent une délicieuse fraîcheur dont
vous pourrez profiter lors de randonnées. Faune et Flore
y sont exceptionnelles : une étendue de palétuviers
et une écloserie naturelle de poissons et de crustacés
constituent la mangrove. Ses lieux attirent aussi les racoons
et les oiseaux de mer (pélicans, frégates) de terre
(merles et pics noirs) et d'eau (poules d'eau, canards). - La Digue Fidelin est également un site typique de la région des Grands-Fonds. Cette marre supplantée de mornes parsemés d'arbres et de verdure est synonyme de fraîcheur. |

the Fidelin Pond or Fidelin Dam is a marvellous place of relaxation and picnic. You will leave the car at the edge of the path of tuff and will cross the meadow to the edge of the pond. |
