d'accès :
Arrivant à Basse-Terre,
Pointe-à-Pitre ou Trois-Rivières par la voie maritime
- (la voie aérienne existe, depuis Baillif ou le Raizet-Abymes),
quitter le port de débarquement pour se dirigez vers l'église,
à droite. Juste avant l'église, tourner à
gauche : la route s'élève un peu. A la sortie du
bourg, juste après le dernier carrefour, le sentier se
présente à main droite, signalé par un panneau
ONF.
Description :
La balade débute depuis
la place, près du port. Admirez le bourg et son animation,
en n'oubliant pas de saluer, de dire bonjour : c'est la porte
ouverte aux dialogue. Vous pouvez acheter les tourments d'amour,
ces délicieuses tartelettes au coco vendues par les enfants
et les femmes de l'île. Visitez au passage le petit jardin
de la place triangulaire, près de l'église de de
la mairie avant de reprendre, à gauche avant l'église,
la route de Marigot. Admirez les fleurs vives du bougainvilliée
et les roses du laurier. Malgré la sécheresse et
le manque d'eau (pas de rivière ici), les habitants s'efforcent
de maintenir ou de créer une végétation
ornementale dans les cours et autour des maisons couleurs pastel.
Très rapidement vous sortez du centre et prenez, à
main droite, la trace signalée par le balisage ONF.
Donnant le dos au Mouillage, vous commencez à grimper
vers l'est, sur le morne Rouge. Les Saintes font partie géologiquement
de l'arc interne récent, comme Basse-Terre, et leurs formes
sont relativement jeunes, malgré une forte érosion
due au vent et à la pluie, lorsqu'elle veut bien arroser
notre petit archipel. Les pentes sont très abruptes, malgré
une faible altitude. Profitez de l'élévation et
prenez déjà un bain de paysages au fil de votre
progression. Ici, la végétation est classique des
îles chaudes et sèche de la Caraïbe. La grimpette
est aisée et vous atteignez le premier sommet, en le contournant
par la gauche, pour arriver à un col à 70-80 mètres
d'altitude environ, d'où vous pouvez apercevoir la piste
d'atterrissage et surtout la plage de Gran-Anse à vos
pieds, à droite (dangereuse à cause de ses rouleaux
: c'est l'Atlantique). Sur la droite, une branche du sentier
permet de descendre justement par là. Vous voyez plus
loin la pointe Rodrigue, le morne à Craie, le Chameau
qui domine de ses 309 mètres avec sa tour carrée
et le grand îlet au large. Par la gauche, vous découvrez
le Fort Napoléon, sur le morne Mire, la baie du Marigot
et le Morne Morel. Mais continuez votre avancée, car "le
soleil donne". Après le col, la trace s'élève
un peu encore, vers le deuxième sommet que vous contournez
aussi par la gauche. La vue est magnifique tout au long du chemin,
et ne vous étonnez pas de voir, tout au loin là-bas,
la Guadeloupe proprement dite ou Basse-Terre, avec la soufrière
sans doute cachée sous les nuages, et les monts caraïbes
certainement visibles, avec les côtes de Trois rivières.
Ayant dépassé le sommet, vous commencez une descente
en pente douce, sur la crête, en direction de grosse Pointe.
La falaise est impressionnante, sur la côte atlantique,
à droite. Vous apercevez le grand Souffleur. Puis vous
tournez vers la gauche, la descente se faisant plus raide. Les
roches Percées vous intriguent et vous attirent, tandis
que vous arrivez, à travers les crotons et les cactées,
au-dessus de la plage de Pont-Pierre (ou pompière), magnifique.
Belle étendue de sable blanc, baignée d'une eau
bleu, allez-vous apercevoir un des reptiles préhistorique,
l'iguane, excellent nageur, pouvant atteindre 1 mètre
de long, qui fut décimé par la population des dernières
décennies (pour être mangé ou empaillé
pour les touristes !). Après un bon bain, vous pouvez
retourner au mouillage et à l'anse du bourg, en une promenade
tranquille, par la route de Marigot, dont vous trouvez le départ
à l'autre bout de la page.

Newcomer with Low-Ground, Point-with-Clown or Three-Rivers by
the maritime way - (the air route exists, since Baillif or Raizet-Abymes),

rises a little. At the output of the borough, just after the
last crossroads, the path is presented to right hand, announced
by a panel ONF.
Description:
Strolls begins since the place, close to the port. Admire the
borough and its animation, while not forgetting to greet, say
hello: it is the gate open to the dialogue. You can buy the torments
of love, these delicious tartelettes with coco sold by the children
and the women of the island. Visit in the passing the small garden
of the triangular place, close to the church of town hall before
beginning again, on the left before the church, the road of Backwater.
Admire the flowers sharp of bougainvilliée and the pinks
of the bay-tree. In spite of the dryness and the lack of water
(not of river here), the inhabitants endeavour to maintain or
create a decorative vegetation in the courses and around the
houses colors pastel.
Very quickly you leave the center and take, with right hand,
the trace announced by beaconing ONF. Giving the back to Damping,
you start to climb towards the east, on dull Rouge. The Holy
ones form part of the recent interior arc geologically, like
Low-Ground, and their forms are relatively young, in spite of
a strong erosion due to the wind and the rain, when she wants
to sprinkle our small archipelago well. The slopes are very steep,
in spite of a low altitude. Benefit from rise and take already
a bath of landscapes to the wire of your progression. Here, the
vegetation is traditional islands hot and dry of the Caribbean
one. The grimpette is easy and you reach the first node, by circumventing
it by the left, to arrive at a collar 70-80 meters from altitude
approximately, from where you can see the landing strip and especially
the range of Gran-Handle to your feet, on the right (dangerous
because of its rollers: it is the Atlantic).
On the line, a branch of the path makes it possible to precisely
go down by there. You see further the point Rodrigue, the dull
one in Craie, the Camel which dominates of its 309 meters with
its square tower and large the îlet with the broad one.
By the left, you discover Strong Napoleon, on dull Mire, the
bay of the Backwater and Dull Morel. But continue your projection,
because " the sun gives ". After the collar, the trace
rises a little still, towards the second node which you also
circumvent by the left. The sight is splendid throughout path,
and you do not astonish to see, all with far over there, the
Guadeloupe itself or Low-Ground, with the sulphur mine undoubtedly
hidden under the clouds, and the Caribbean mounts certainly visible,
with the coasts of Three rivers.
Having exceeded the node, you begin a soft inclined descent,
on the peak, in direction of large Point. The cliff is impressive,
on the Atlantic coast, on the right. You see the large Blower.
Then you turn towards the left, the descent being done stiffer.
The Percées rocks intrigue you and attract you, while
you arrive, through crotons and cactées, above the range
of Bridge-Pierre (or pompière), splendid. Beautiful white
sand extent, bathed of a water blue, you will see one of the
reptiles prehistoric, the iguana, excel swimmer, being able to
reach 1 meter length, which was decimated by the population of
the last decades (to be eaten or empaillé for the tourists!).
After a good bath, you can turn over to the damping and the handle
of the borough, in a quiet walk, by the road of Backwater, of
which you find the departure with the other end of the page.
